What is Conscious Dreaming?

When consciously dreaming, the dreamer is not asleep and is able to consciously engage with the dream, make their own choices on what to do, where to go and even talk with another person in the room to ask for advice, while they are within the dreamscape. In this self-created virtual reality the dreamer is firmly in charge.

You can enter the dreamscape to find solutions or insights into whatever issues you need to resolve. This may include health issues (mental, emotional and physical), relationship matters, paranormal/metaphysical experiences, etc.
During conscious dreaming, you will be in a position to fulfill any fantasy that you are harboring: have sex, dinosaur spotting, fly over mountains, time traveling, ninja fighting, visit alien planets, and meet your heroes.

Aspects of Conscious Dreaming:

  • Conscious, coherent & completely in control
  • Aware and able to communicate with anyone present
  • Make choices on direction/content of dream
  • Pause, stop & resume dream merely by opening/closing eyes
  • Completely safe and non-invasive

So What About Lucid Dreaming?

Lucid dreaming is more active and relates to voluntary conscious attention, while regular dreaming is more passive and may relate to automatic forms of attention.

A lucid dream is a type of dream in which the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming while they are asleep. You’re aware that the events flashing through your brain aren’t really happening. But the dream feels vivid and real.

During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment; however, this is not actually necessary for a dream to be described as lucid.

Studies have found physical differences in the brains of people who do and don’t have lucid dreams. The very front part of the brain, called the prefrontal cortex — the site of high-level tasks like making decisions and recalling memories — is bigger in people who have lucid dreams. That suggests that folks who are most likely to have lucid dreams tend to be self-reflective types who chew over thoughts in their heads.

The prefrontal cortex is a part of the brain situated in the frontal lobe responsible for carrying out various vital functions in daily life. These functions include performing complex tasks, storing and retrieving memory, maintaining attention and focus, and smooth regulation of emotions.

Benefits of Lucid Dreams

Lucid dreams might help your waking life with benefits like:

  • Less anxiety. The sense of control you feel during a lucid dream may stay with you and make you feel empowered. When you’re aware that you’re in a dream, you can shape the story and the ending. That might serve as therapy for people who have nightmares, teaching them how to control their dreams.
  • Better motor skills. Limited studies suggest that it may be possible to improve simple things like tapping your fingers more quickly by “practicing” during your lucid dream. The same part of your brain turns active whether you imagine the movements while awake or run through them during a lucid dream.
  • Improved problem-solving. Researchers found some evidence that lucid dreams can help people solve problems that deal with creativity (like a conflict with another person) more than with logic (such as a math problem).
  • More creativity. Some people taking part in lucid dream studies were able to come up with new ideas or insights, sometimes with the help of characters in their dreams.
